I first moved to Colorado in 1990. Though work moved me back and forth between Texas to Colorado again, I married my bride who grew up in Douglas County in 1997 (over 25 years ago) at High Prairie Farms in Parker. In 2003 our family of six made Colorado our permanent home, by 2005 we moved to Highlands Ranch, where all four of our children attended Douglas County Schools until they graduated, with our son wrapping up the Bridge Program this coming May. We now have 3 grandchildren and each live here in Highlands Ranch as well. For a total of 12 Wann family members living in Highlands Ranch.
By trade I am a Furniture Master and have been in the furniture repair industry since 1988. My company has been in all lower 48 states and have operated as one of the largest furniture repair companies in the United States doing work for companies like Bassett, Sears, Montgomery Wards, JCPenny, Levitz, Marriott, Best Western, Brown Palace, Stainsafe, Guardian, and most rent to own companies out there. If a factory built the furniture, I was more than likely the warranty authorized company that performed the repair if issues arose. With employees and contractors all across the US we were very successful in duplicating our skill creating trust and revenue from the corporations of America.
As I got further into my career, my Family needed me more than my company. So, we made the decision to bring it down to a manageable level. Finding things we loved to do as a family and jumping in with everything we had.
In 2004 our son Benjamin had his first seizure at the age of 3. This put us down a path of unexpected adventures of Doctors, Nurses, Lawmakers, Cannabis, and Donkeys. Our journey has been documented in publications like CNN, Wall Street Journal, and New York Times. Even in books like Running with Sherman, we have had our story told. My Family’s voice has been heard from the halls of the US Congress to School Boards around the State of Colorado. It would be easier to tell you to just Google Brad Wann.
I introduce to you Pack Burro Racing, as it became a part of our lives in 2008 when my wife’s dad asked her to help train 2 donkeys for a few races coming up that year, and so it began. We were all hooked, I ran for office for the Ass-ociation as the cheerleader of the sport of Pack Burro Racing, held the Media Relation Officer position from 2009 - 2021. During my time we were successful in making Pack Burro Racing the Summer Heritage Sport of Colorado in 2012. In 2020 during Covid 19 we were able to get our races off the ground and have become the longest continually running race in the United States. I became the first Race Director to manage the Triple Crown of Pack Burro Racing and was able to do it during a pandemic when the rest of the world was shut down. It has been a privilege to be the face of the State Sport of Colorado for over a decade. I have a current relationship with the Department of Interior / Bureau of Land Management as a permit holder and the owner of the Buena Vista Pack Burro Race and manage a total of 6 Pack Burro Races. I work with the CDPHE, county commissioners, county health departments, Town Managers, town and county law enforcement, Chamber of Commerce, recreational departments, to ensure a safe plan for events enjoyed by 1,000’s of spectators.
Amber and I are also the owners of BeverageBurros.com where we take out very well trained donkeys to events all over the state. Another opportunity to allow us to be with family, doing something we love. Of course, we have a non-profit where we rescue donkeys and give them a second life with all that we do. ReDONKulous Ranch Sanctuary and Rescue, Inc. is a pure passion of our family. We are known as the Army of Wann in life, and sometimes you may see me with a Reindeer or two. Putting smiles on faces is what we do.
I am no stranger to being on a board. In 2015 I was elected as the Douglas County Republican Vice Chairman. 2018 was elected as Chairman of Colorado House District 43. I am currently the Chairman of Colorado Senate District 30. To my core, I am a Conservative Republican, and will bring my outside of the box thinking to a community my family has spent almost 2 decades in. As a country we are going through tough times. Highlands Ranch needs to be prepared for those times. Highlands Ranch homeowners will be faced with a possible 50% tax increase. We need term limits moving forward, a fresh set of eyes looking onto the issues of tomorrow. Protecting our Senior Citizens, keeping taxes low, and making sure we leave it better that we got it.
I am not bought and paid for, I will work for you and what is best for our community.
